Joaquín Labougle

Joaquín Labougle is a Senior Regional Program Officer for the Latin America and the Caribbean region at the Blue Nature Alliance, which is a global partnership founded and led by Conservation International, The Pew Charitable Trusts, Minderoo Foundation, Rob Walton Foundation and the Global Environment Facility that aims to catalyze the protection and conservation of 18 million square kilometers, or 5% of the global ocean. Joaquín is in charge of developing and nurturing strong relationships with government staff, community, and civil society leadership to develop and implement large-scale ocean conservation projects in the region. Before joining the Alliance, he practiced natural resources law and oversaw the National Directorate of Marine Protected Areas of his native country at the Argentine National Parks Administration where he helped to designate and implement offshore marine protected areas and develop marine conservation policy at a national level. Joaquín holds a Bachelor of Laws at the Catholic University of Argentina, a Master of Laws at the University of New South Wales of Australia and attended the Summer Academy at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. In his free time, Joaquin enjoys surfing, kitesurfing and being outdoors with his family and friends.
