From the 14th to 20th May 2022 over 200 scientists, innovators, policymakers, business and financial experts, government representatives, community leaders, and environmental and youth activists convened in French Polynesia for the Blue Climate Summit.
Among those in attendance were Edinburgh Ocean Leaders (EOL) co-founders and co-directors Meriwether Wilson and Sandy Tudhope, EOL advisor Max Bello and 2021 Ocean Leader Diva Amon.
The summit included 4 days of workshops designed to accelerate ocean-related climate solutions. The ocean projects varied from blue carbon exchange, wave power, seaweed farming, reef restoration, and a deep-sea mining watch.
The summit also provided an international forum for Pacific Islanders to spearhead action on ocean and climate issues. The event included a historic convening of Polynesian voyagers.
