The ninth Our Ocean Conference centred on the theme, ‘An Ocean of Potential.’ Our Ocean aims to foster collaborative efforts and encourage the submission of clear and measurable voluntary commitments to protect and sustainably manage the world’s seas, oceans, and their resources.
Launched in 2014 by the US Department of State and Secretary of State John Kerry, the Our Ocean Conference was created to address a gap in global ocean governance. Since its inception, the Conference has evolved into a key forum for dialogue, bringing together governments, intergovernmental organisations, academia, the private sector, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to promote a shared vision for ocean conservation and action.
