Natalie Hart is Head of Advancing Strategic Ocean Communication at Communications INC, where she has built a global community of 700+ ocean communicators and established the Ocean Insight and Strategy Unit, grounding ocean advocacy in evidence-based communication and audience research. Her work has contributed to elevating recognition of communication from a support function to a vital driver of systemic ocean change. Prior to the ocean sector, she specialised in preventing violent extremism and post-conflict stabilisation through work in Iraq, Afghanistan and Tunisia. Her debut novel Pieces of Me was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award and she now teaches writers how to weave climate and ocean themes into their work. Across her career, she is committed to equipping diverse voices with the skills and confidence to translate complex challenges into stories that inspire change. Natalie holds a degree in Arabic and Spanish from the University of Cambridge.
