Diva Amon

Diva Amon is a deep-sea biologist who works at the nexus of science, policy, and communications. She studies the weird and wonderful animals living in a range of previously unknown deep-sea habitats and human impacts on them. Diva holds a PhD in Ocean and Earth Science and has participated in research expeditions around the world gathering critical data to inform decision-making for the management of marine habitats. She is also a co-founder of SpeSeas, a non-profit organisation dedicated to marine science, education, and advocacy in her home country, Trinidad and Tobago. Diva is a Pew Bertarelli Ocean Ambassador, a 2020 National Geographic Emerging Explorer, a scientific associate at London’s Natural History Museum and co-leads the Deep Ocean Stewardship Initiative’s Minerals Working Group.
